The demand in the coworking industry is as high as ever, boasting collaborative environments and interesting benefits. The industry is no longer only made up of big names like Wework and Regus, but also thousands of up and rising spaces all over the world.

Here's how we categorize the coworking spaces:
- New spaces: Indicates brand-new businesses.
- Expansions: Indicates companies opening their second location or more.
- Chains: Indicates coworking franchises.
We have also included figures and analysis on each new opening to give you a clear idea of what’s happening in the coworking industry.
Overview
This month, there are 194 new openings and 59.8 percent of them are new businesses entering the market. This is a strong indication of a steady, rising coworking trend. If we compare these statistics to October, the numbers are quite similar; surprisingly, this shows that more than half of the new spaces opened each month are new businesses. Aside from big players, like WeWork, the coworking industry is clearly powered by small, independent business owners, many of whom are entering the market for the first time.
Our research also highlights 60 businesses that have successfully established their initial coworking space and have now graduated to scaling their business in multiple locations.
The remaining 8.25 percent are large coworking chains such as WeWork and Spaces who continue to expand their franchises all over the world.
Coworking Trends in the United States
There are 80 announced openings in the U.S, making up almost half of all new openings in November, a steady trend over the past few months. Here are some noteworthy states:
- Texas: 12 new spaces, four more than last month.
- California: 10 new spaces, two more than last month.
- Washington and New York: 4 new spaces
While coworking has become a global phenomenon, the U.S. continues to lead the pack with 41.2 percent of November's openings.
International Trends
There are 31 openings in the United Kingdom during August, almost two times compared to last month. Three of these openings are located in London, which shows that coworking is a nationwide trend in the U.K.
On the other side of the globe, Asian countries have also been doing well. There have been 6 openings in Singapore, 7 in India and 5 in Malaysia.
